James Tallie Obituary

James Roy Tallie, son of Rufus and Pearlie Mae (Pegues) Tallie was born, July 3, 1954, in Oxford, MS. James ("Bruh" as some called him), accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Hill M.B. Church with his family and remained a member at Union Hill  until his demise from this earth tabernacle, even though he fellowshipped at times with his daughter, Rashelle at Jeffrie Chapel M.B. Church.

James received his formal education in the city school district and was a 1973 graduate of Oxford High School. He loved drawing, especially cartoon characters with bible verses. James was a gifted artist. Among his other many talents were his musical abilities. He formed a band in his early years and played the guitar and drums, and he held a Black Belt in Karate. And to top it all off, his favorite song was "Walk Around Heaven All Day."

After high school, James enlisted in the United States Army where he served his enlistment term and received an honorable discharge. He was the proud father of two children , Rashelle born from his marriage to Diana Gordon, and Morris, born from his marriage to Laverne White. James was formerly employed with Georgia Pacific (Plywood) as a machine operator. James was a resident at Oxford Health and Rehab and was loved by everyone he can in contact with. He inspired many people with his rendition of "Walk Around Heaven,"  his Old English style handwriting, and his art drawings. And he loved being with his family.

On Friday evening, May 1, 2020, after many years of being physically disabled, the Lord saw fit to welcome him home. And now, James himself, is singing, "I'll walk around heaven, all day."

He is lovingly remembered by his daughter: Wionna Rashelle (Carnelious) Watson of Abbeville MS and his son: Morris Tallie of Oxford MS; his mother: Pearlie Mae Buford of Oxford MS; two grandsons: Isaiah Jones of Phoenix AZ and Xavian Herod of Abbeville MS; his sisters: Christine Blakely of Oxford MS and Toni (David, Jr.) Lynch of Houston TX; his brothers: Carl Wayne (Mary) Tallie of Oxford MS, Michael (Jackie) Tallie of Denton TX and James Melvin (Michelle) Tallie of Saltillo MS;  two very special cousins, Freddie Pegues and Angilee Pettis; he also leaves a brother-in-law: Alvin Watts of Houston TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

James was preceded in death by his father: Rufus Tallie and a sister: Selena Tallie Watts.

Please keep the Tallie family in your prayers.
