James, affectionately known as "Hambone" by family, son of the late Broadis and Ruby Lee Toles, was born February 19, 1955, in Water Valley, Mississippi.
His walk with Christ started at an early age at Mount Hope Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized and completed at Deliverance Tabernacle Holiness Church in Georgia where he actively served as a deacon.
James received his education from Lafayette County schools, and he was an accomplished baseball player in high school.
He was married to Angela and they were the parents of two beautiful girls and blessed with one exceptional granddaughter.
James was a patient, loving, and devoted father, husband, and grandfather. He also served in the United States Air Force; retiring after 22 years and returned shortly thereafter to work as a civilian on the base. His specialty was working in HVAC systems, but he was capable of any and everything. His hobbies included working on cars with his oldest child, fishing with his youngest, and spending invaluable time with his granddaughter.
Please keep his wife, Angela, lifted up in prayer, as well as his children: Elizabeth Toles and Pamela Toles, and his granddaughter Justine Toles. Also keep his siblings: Broadis (Brenda) Toles, Janice (Eugene) Burt, Kenneth (Shirley) Toles, Christopher (Channon) Toles, and Laura Toles in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their brother. He is survived by his aunts, Ara Perry and Annie Martin and uncles Raymond (Katie) Carr, Johnny (Clara) Carr and Jonas (Dannish) Carr. He will be missed by a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
