James "Tot" Wright

James Wright was born on December 25, 1947 to the late Willie Frank Wright, Sr and the late Betty Louise Hentz Wright.

Whether it was his infectious laughter, his caring nature, or his ability to turn any moment into a cherished memory, he was a gift to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

James worked for MDOT for over 40 years until his retirement and had a love for driving semi trucks. He was a member of Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church where he was a faithful member. He enjoyed fishing, going to church and spending time with his family. You could always find him and Roc Holmes sitting on the porch or at Huddle House.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Willie Sr & Betty Wright; his wife Katherine Wright; his son: Michael Wright, three sisters: Edith Virginia Chapman, Irma Dell Wright and Alice Wright and four brothers: Joe Willie Wright, John William Wright, Walter Wright and Willie Frank Wright, Jr.

To cherish and honor his life, he leaves one daughter: Michelle (Robert) Wright Barker, two step daughters: Mildred Brassell and Jessica (John) Mays; eight grandchildren: Elijah Wright, Keshawn Wright, Azarieanna Wright, Robert Barker II, Reaquan Wright, Makayla Barker, Makhialah Wright and Za’Niyah Wright; one great grandchild: Elijah Wright Jr; five adopted grandchildren; one brother: Robert (Linda) Wright of Batesville MS;  four sisters: Elizabeth Blackburn, Oretha Wright, Annie Wright, all of Batesville MS and Cora Mays of independence MS and sister-in-law: Josephine Wright of Batesville MS.

Though the pain of his loss is overwhelming, we find solace in the memories he left behind. His spirit will live on in every shared story, every echo of laughter, and every act of love inspired by his example. We will forever carry him in our hearts.
