Je'Mathis Lamar Patterson

Mr. Je’Mathis Lamar Patterson was born October 6, 2001, in Oxford, MS, to Annette Morgan Handy and Robert Patterson. Je’Mathis grew up in a home of strict parental guidance with love, understanding, and christian values.  He was devoted to helping others which was instilled in him.  

Je’Mathis converted to Christianity at the age of 10 on January 11, 2012, at Pleasant Green M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Preston Gleeton, Sr. Where he served as an usher at the church. Je’Mathis received his high school diploma in 2020 from South Panola High School in Batesville, MS  

Je’Mathis was a hard worker. He worked at Taco Bell in Batesville, MS; Popeyes in Oxford, MS; Performance Food Service (PFG) in Batesville, MS; Winchester Oxford, MS; MDOT in Batesville, MS; Hotty Toddy Tents in Oxford, MS.  

He loved spending time with family and listening to music. He was named after both of his great-grandfathers. This son, brother, uncle, grandson, brother-in-law, and nephew, yielded to death on September 10, 2024, on Eureka Road in a car accident. He leaves to cherish his memorie,  his mother: Annette Morgan Handy; his father: Robert Patterson; his brothers: Je’Keithrick Walls of Memphis, TN; Je’Tavious “Ta” Turner (Marla) of Batesville, MS; Je’Miller Handy of Batesville, MS; and Je’Michael Handy (Madison) of Christiana, TN; his sisters: Lakya Wilson of Memphis, TN; and LaDetrick Patterson of Coffeeville, MS; Nieces: LaDiamond Patterson, Onessia Hagar (Ronald), JayAnn Matthews, and Peyten Turner; Nephews: Barron Matthews, Jr., Tony Turner, Jayce Walls, and Malik Turner; Grandfather: Miller Morgan, Sr.,  of Batesville, MS; Great-niece: Arabella Hagar; great-nephew: Ethan Hagar; Uncles: Leroy Morgan (Diann) Memphis, TN; Kelvin Morgan (Michelle) Batesville, MS; Miller Morgan Jr. (Kimberly) Courtland, MS; Alex Patterson (Sadie) Milwaukee, WI; Jim Brown(Annie) Pontotoc, MS; Aunts: Ora Ivy (Shirley) Taylor, MS; Billie Richards (Gregory) Phoenix, AZ; Johnnie Butler Oakland, MS; Nellie Jean Johnson of Milwaukee, WI; Audrey Owen (Albin) Charleston, MS; His girlfriend: Kiaya Black; Great Aunts: Eulastine Thompson (Leroy), Ola Faye Morgan, Carlene Rogers (Lucius), Gladys Hunt (Robert), Great Uncles: Thomas Morgan, Sterling Martin (Myrtis), Great-Great Aunt: Robertha Simmons, and Great-Great Uncle: James Scott; God Uncle: Rodney Phillips (Darlene); God Aunts: Ollie Sims (Adrian), Vernita McDonald (Milton), Sandra and Claudia Marshall. He also leaves a host of cousins, and friends.    

Je’Mathis was preceded in death by both grandmothers: Millie Morgan & Sadie Patterson; Aunt: Edna Leland, and Uncle: Ben Patterson; Great-grandparents: Willie Mathis and Mamie Ioda Morgan, and Oresta Lamar and Mary Etta Martin.
