Jessie Braziel Obituary

Jessie Doris Braziel was born April 10, 1942, in Oxford, MS, to the late Elroy and Georgia Woods. She transitioned to peaceful eternal rest on May 5, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-NM in Oxford, MS.

Doris accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Hill M.B. Church where she remained a faithful member.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Hugh White "Willie" Braziel for 20 years and to this union 5 children were born.

Doris was employed at Emerson Electric Company until her retirement. Shortly there after, she started her own little daycare and operated it for five years. It was there, that KeKe Bell became her prized adopted, baby girl.  Then, she became a foster grandparent at North Mississippi Regional Center and served there faithfully until her health failed, even working on her sick days. Doris was also a proud member of the Heroines of Jericho.

Doris's love, loyalty and devoted work ethics, is a true reflection of her character and joy of being a servant to God and others. She will truly be missed. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family as well as traveling to various cities and reunions.

Doris is preceded in death by her youngest son: Robert "Rob" Braziel; her parents, her husband, five brothers and five sisters.

Doris memories will forever be cherished by those she leavescto mourn, her children: Jerome (Maxcine) Woods of Abbeville, MS; Loretta (William) Sims of Abbeville, MS; Tommy (Pam) Braziel of Houston, TX, Joe Willie (Christine) Braziel of Minneapolis, MN; one sister: Ruthie Mae Smith of Oxford, MS; one sister-in-law: Patricia Braziel of Minneapolis, MN; 12 grandchildren: D.J., Shade, Crystal, Darrin, Deshao (Dee), Jolette, Demetric, Brittany, Crystal, Ashante' Jennika, Sonya; 23 great grandchildren; amd a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She also leaves her very special friend, Sulice Malone and  adopted daughters: KeKe Bell and Diane Pennington.
