Jessie Earl Ivy, better known as “Booger,” was born December 18, 1955, in Lafayette County, Mississippi to the late Henry Ivy, Sr. and Marine Mosley Ivy.
At an early age, Jessie confessed a hope in Christ and became a member of Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church. He was a true believer in God, and even though his health prevented him from attending services, he faithfully supported the church financially.
Jesdie received his formal education in the Lafayette County School District. His work experiences allowed him to traveled along the East Coast processing fruit on farms, and later he worked in construction.
Jessie eventually returned to the Taylor Community, where he spent his remaining years surrounded by family and friends. He enjoyed watching television and sitting on his porch, enjoying life talking with family and friends.
On Monday, January 19, 2026, Jessie transitioned from this earthly life. He leaves to cherish his memory, four brothers: John (Brenda) Hanes of Rock Island, Illinois, Alex (Geniece) Ivy of Oxford, Mississippi, Hugh (Darlene) Ivy and Eddie Ivy of Taylor, Mississippi; and one sister, Lula Faye Hickman of Rock Island, Illinois. He also leaves of host of nieces and nephews, along with special friends with whom he shared daily conversations.
Jessie is preceded in death by his parents: Henry Ivy, Sr. and Marine Mosley Ivy; his sisters: Mary Lee Carothers and Lena Mae Ivy Echoles; and his brothers: Shirley Hanes, Eddie C. Hanes, Henry Ivy, Jr., Albert Ivy, and Bobby Ivy.
