JoAnn Jones Williams was born January 11, 1955, in Lafayette County, MS, to Louella Vaughn and Eddie Nelson (Snook) Jones. She attended Lafayette High School and would later graduate from Lewis and Clark Community College in Alton, Illinois.
JoAnn was known by many for her kindness, her intelligence, and her sense of humor. She was a friend to everyone she met. She was also known as a hard worker, whether she was working at a sewing factory or in the food service industry. She enjoyed many activities such as gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing with her husband of 52 years and visiting with her 3 grandchildren. JoAnn was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in May of 1983 and she found joy in attending Christian meetings and teaching others about God’s Kingdom.
JoAnn is survived by her husband: Julius "Buddy" Williams of Oxford, Mississippi; two sons: Byron Williams, Jeremy Williams, both of Oxford, Mississippi; four sisters: Barbara (Steve) Austin, and Alice Jones, both of Fontana, California, Annie Louise Clark of Georgia, and Teresa (LV) Phillips of Abbeville, Mississippi; one brother Eddie Frank (Ruby) Jones of Byhalia, Mississippi; three grandchildren: Morgan Williams, Johnathan Williams and Joshua Williams, all of Sardis, Mississippi; Three aunts: Earlean Rogers of Augusta, Georgia and Alice Mason of Alton, Illinois and Catherine Driver of Oxford; A devoted cousin: Louise Williams of Oxford, Mississippi; a best friend Ruth (Freddie) Pegues of Abbeville, and a host of loved family and friends.
JoAnn passed away February 6, 2025, in Oxford, Mississippi. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother: Joe Vaughn; and a son: Kevin Williams; and her grandparents: Albert Vaughn, Mattie Vaughn, Eardie Vaughn, Grant Jones and Annie Jones.
