Obituary

Father, into thy hands, I commend thy spirit. Deacon Johnny A. Smith has gone home to be with the Lord.

Johnny A. Smith, son of Claude and Susie Smith was born on April 22, 1955, in Oxford, Mississippi. He was a member of Brown Chapel Church of the Living God. Johnny attended school at Central High School in Oxford and was an avid outdoorsman. He had a special way of chatting with people and making friends and family laugh. Johnny loved to play music in the house of God. He played the steel guitar and sometimes he played drums. He was faithful and skilled musician at his home church, Brown Chapel.

Johnny married to Mildred Williams on February 12, 2016. On Sunday, January 3, 2021, Johnny went home to be with the Lord. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Susie Smith and his sisters, Susie Mae and Lola.

His memories will be kept alive as he is loving remembered by his wife: Mildred Smith; his daughter: Makeesha Johnson, his sister: Mattie (Bob) Crawford; two brothers: George (Annie) Smith, and Carlos Smith; three stepchildren; Lesa, Alice and James Williams, two grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends,
