Juanita Jones was born February 18, 1951, in Oxford, Mississippi, to the late Fred Jones and Hazel Stokes. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church in Yocona, Mississippi. Juanita later moved her membership to East Providence M.B. Church in Oxford, Mississippi.
Juanita gained employment with Emerson Electric Company, were she worked until she retired. After a brief illness, Juanita made her transition from the mortal life to a life of immortality on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in her home. She lovingly survived by her five children: Andrea Jones, Abdul Jones, Shiloh Herron and Jeremiah Wilson all of Oxford MS and Ashley Hilliard of Tupelo MS; two sisters: Odella Thompkins of Palmetto MS and Lou Mamie McCann; one brother: Richard Jones of Oxford MS; she also leaves to cherish her memories three grandchildren: Juanique Hilliard, Sha'Daijia Means, and Shy'la Herron; one great grandchild: Ty'Maun Means; one step daughter: Bridgette (Eddie) Booker of Taylor MS. Anthony, Akilah, Jamiah and Shamaya Byers of Atlanta GA; and one god daughter: Niva (Mitchell) Ward of Palmetto MS; brothers in law: James (Mary) Houston of Detroit MI, Freddie Houston of Oxford MS and William (Marlene) Houston of Abbeville MS; sisters in law: Gladys (Edward) Robins, Edith Hilliard and Hazel Houston all of Oxford MS, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband: L. V. Hilliard; sisters: Mary "Verne" Wortham and Marlean Jones; and brothers: Billy Wayne Jones, Earl (Pee Wee) Jones, George Jones, Edward Jones, Charles Jones, James Jones and James Lee "De-O" Jones and brother in law: Daniel Houston.
