Mother Jurlean Boles was born August 22, 1942, in Crittenden County, Arkansas to parents, Simmie and Marinda McNairy Manning.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior at Rock Hill M.B. Church and later joined New Hope M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor W.T. Houston. At New Hope, she served on the Usher Board, was a member of the Mission Society, an assistant Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Adult Choir and served on the Mother Board Ministry. She remained a member until her death.
Jurlean attended Rock Hill Elementary School, Taylor Vocational School, and graduated from Oxford Training School. She worked at Kellwood sewing factory for many years. Later in life, she provided childcare services for family members and also worked as a personal care sitter.
She loved watching soap operas and football in her favorite chair, talking on the phone, and being around family and her grandchildren.
On Monday, January 2, 2023, Jurlean peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by family. Mother Boles was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all those who knew her.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 59 years, Lee Russell Boles, Sr. of Taylor, MS; sons, Russell (Agena) Boles, Jr. of Oxford, MS, Michael (Sabrina) Boles of Taylor, MS, Kevin (Kim) Boles of Boston, MA, and Jimmy (Tess) Williams of Memphis, TN; daughter-in-law, Anissa Boles; son-in-law, Tony Wortham; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Katie Wells of Taylor, MS, Liz Morrison of MI, Zula Goolsby of Tupelo, MS; brother-in-law, Jim Henry (Oretha) Boles of MI; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mother Boles was preceded in death by her parents; children, Janice E. Wortham, Christopher Boles, Sr., and Regeania K. Allen; granddaughter, LaRhonda Boles; all of her siblings, and stepfather.
