Karita Kirkwood was born November 22, 1988, in Memphis, TN, to the union of Kenneth Kirkwood and Linda Kirkwood.
Karita was a member of Word of Life Ministry where she received the GIFT of the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus name. She was the Younger Youth Director and a faithful member of the church. She truly loved the Lord and was an example of a transformed life in Christ.
Karita attended Lafayette High School and was a graduate of the class of 2007. She was blessed with three beautiful children, Elijah, Marquel and Karianna. Karita was also blessed with the love of two lovely sisters, Jeannette and Kenlindra.
Karita was employed as a Sus Chef with Beta Theta Pi fraternity on Ole Miss campus at the University of Mississippi where she was loved by the students and her coworkers. Karita was a beacon of light that always shined bright, and she always had a positive word to give. Her hobbies were cooking, doing hair, watching sports, and having family time. Karita was also affectionately known to some as Rita, TT, Prophetess, Re Re, Cool Brezz, Sister, Cuz, and Friend.
Karita leaves to cherish her loving memory, her three loving children: Elijah Kirkwood, Marquel Kirkwood and Karianna Kirkwood, all of Oxford MS; her mother: Linda Kirkwood of Oxford MS; her father: Kenneth Kirkwood of Memphis TN; two sisters: Jeannette Fondren of Taylor MS and Kenlindra Kirkwood of Batesville; She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, along with her church family.
