Kendric McLean Obituary

Kendric Montrel McLean was born October 19, 1989, in Oxford, MS to Sharon J. Houston and Kenneth McLean.


He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford, MS under the leadership of Pastor Eric Wilson. There he served as a youth usher.


Kendric attended Oxford High School, where he played football and basketball. He was also a member of the AAU running rebels under former Ole Miss Men’s Basketball head coach, Rob Barnes.


He worked with CenterPlate Food Services on the Ole Miss campus and other food services in Oxford before moving to Memphis, TN. Kendric was a wonderful father, son, brother, and nephew. He loved cooking, playing basketball, and spending time with his daughter, Kendra, parents, sister, and all of his aunts, uncle, cousins, and friends. He had a quiet spirit, genuine smile, and loved to laugh. He was known as “Cadillac Grill.”


Kendric transitioned from life to eternity on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, in Memphis, TN.


He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Kendra Z. McLean, Oxford, MS; mother, Sharon J. Martin (Bobby, Jr.), Oxford, MS; father, Kenneth McLean, West Point, MS; sister, Kiarrah M. McLean, Starkville, MS; stepsister, Amanda V. Martin, College Park, MD; uncle, Rosco Houston, Oxford, MS; step-uncle, Christopher Martin, Abbeville, MS; aunts, Rosemary Houston, Elizabeth (Russell Lee) Buck, Laura Tallie, Marilyn Nicholason, Barbara (Gary) Bolden, Essie Houston, all of Oxford, MS, Carolyn (Robert) Jones, Abbeville, MS, Constance Howard, Racine, WI, Davita McLean, West Point, MS; step-grandmother, Lucy M. Martin, Abbeville, MS; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.


Kendric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmie and Pearl McLean, Robert and Frankie Bell Houston, step-grandfather, Bobby Martin, Sr., aunts, Francis Moore, Frankie Ann Houston, uncles, John Lee Houston, Earnest O’Neal Moore, and Donald (Mr. Don) Nicholason.
