Kyra Stevens Obituary

Kyra Monique Stevens was born October 5, 2000 to Shontiel Stevens and LaKeisha Ivy in Oxford, MS.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Oxford. She later became a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Kyra was very strong in her faith and always acknowledged God in all that she done.

Kyra received her education from Memphis City schools and was a 2019 graduate of Bartlett High School. While in high school, she was a member of Bartlett High’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC).

Kyra was feisty, outgoing, and self-driven. These traits coupled with her love for shopping, motivated her to start her own retail business, which was one her most proud accomplishments. Although she was proud of her business, her greatest blessing came May 29, 2021 – when she became a mother. Kyra absolutely loved her daughter, Zya, and was good mother.

“Queen Boss,” as she referred to herself, was so brave and had the heart of a lion. She was funny, goofy, and silly – just like her mommy, and loved to aggravate others, especially kids. She loved to shop for clothes, which she was very possessive of, get her hair and nails fixed, and spending time with her siblings.

On Sunday, June 13, 2021, Kyra passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, TN. She will be missed so much by all those who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Zya Dennelle Stevens; mother, LaKeisha Ivy both of Olive Branch, MS; father, Shontiel Stevens of Memphis, TN; siblings, Kiera Ivy Stevens, Kayla Stevens and Keshon Stevens all of Bartlett, TN, Tierra Williams of Memphis, TN, and Omoye Pegues of Savannah, GA; maternal grandparents, David and Johnnie Ivy both of Oxford, MS; paternal grandmother, Mary Westbrook of Oxford, MS; aunts, Tasha Ivy of Olive Branch, MS, LaTeisha Egerson (Eugene) of Oxford, MS, and Jackie Turner of Memphis, TN; uncles, Marcus Ivy (Patrice) of Calumet City, IL, Carlos Stevens (Yolande), Raymond Stevens (Marisa), Edward Westbrook, and Edwin Westbrook all of Memphis, TN, special cousin/godmother, Marcia Simpson of Oxford, MS, best friend, Chadsity Morris of Memphis, TN, and a host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Nathaniel Stevens.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
