Lakesha Monique "Nene" Harwell, daughter of Dorothy Harwell-Ivy and Leonard Ivy, Jr, was born March 23, 1994, in Oxford MS. She received her spiritual guidance and worshipped at Philadelphia MB Church.
“Nene” was a graduate Oxford High School where she was a member of the ROTC and a recent graduate of Concorde Career College with a degree in Billing and Coding.
Her Occupational and Career Highlights includes: CEO of Make It Lash, LLC which was a staple in the community. “Nene” was very talented in the area of Cosmetology. Her reputation for providing quality services, hospitality, and mentorship was unmatched. Lakesha was also employed at the University of Mississippi.
“Nene” was a joy to be around. She never met a stranger and had a smile that could light up any room. “NeNe" was the definition of what it meant to love her family and others. Her little brother and her niece, Haizley, were her world and she loved spending time with them. She also loved traveling and vacationing.
“NeNe” was the big cousin that all of her younger cousins looked up to. They would call whenever they needed a listening ear or support during difficult situations. “NeNe” never shied away from this responsibility and embraced everyone. If you ever encountered “NeNe” you were going to get that big, genuine smile which radiated to brighten the spirit of others. In losing her, we have lost a giant, a future leader, and a part of our hearts. We will keep her with us in our hearts and never let our memories of her fade.
“Nene” departed this life in Friday, October 27, 2023.
She is lovingly survived by her mother: Dorothy Sue Harwell-Ivy; Father: Leonard Earl Ivy, Jr: Brothers: Wesley Ikeem Pegues (Makayla), Leonard Campbell (Eneshia), Christopher Vaughn (LaTisha), all from Oxford, MS: Sister: Shantel Gaters of Alabama; God Parents: Connie and Earlie Savage of Oxford, MS; Special Nieces and nephews: Haizley M. Pegues, Kamyia Gaters, Justice Vaughn, Tylin Vaughn, L'Asia "LA" Campbell, Adriana Campbell, and TreZaveon "Trey" Campbell. Special uncle and aunt: Cedric and Contemprist Nelson of Memphis, TN. Special big cousins: Frances Savage, Jessica Savage, Kim Savage, and Monica Savage; Uncles and Aunts: Elem "Sonny" Harwell, Connie and Earlie Savage, Linda Payton, Lizzie Harwell, Iva Washington and a host of little cousins who thought the world of her.
“Nene” was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: William and Cloyes Harwell and Paternal grandparents: Leonard and Mattie Sue Ivy.
