Larry Douglass Marshall, born on March 12, 1951, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi on June 24, 2024. Larry was a 1971 graduate of Mantachie High School – the first integrated class and a retired member of the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division, a dedicated soldier, and a loving brother and uncle. Larry was the son of the late Willie Douglas Marshall of Amory, Mississippi, and Johnnie Lee Marshall of Mantachie, Mississippi.
Larry leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and strength. He is survived by his two beloved sisters, Nina Marshall Snow (Darren) of Egypt, Mississippi, and Cathy Marshall-Smith (Jerone) of Oxford, Mississippi. He was a proud and devoted uncle to his two special nieces, Marquita Snow of Ruston, Virginia, and Danielle Smith of New York, New York. After retiring from the military, Larry found solace and companionship at the Oxford, Mississippi Veteran’s Home, where he made lasting friendships and continued to share his wisdom and kindness with others.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church, 611 East Jackson Avenue, Oxford, Mississippi. The memorial service will be live-streamed via L. Hodges Funeral Service, Oxford, Mississippi Facebook’s page.
