Lee Price Obituary

Lee E. Price was born May 28, 1927, to the late John and Rosie Price in Lafayette County, MS. He was the seventh of eight children born to this union.

Lee accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and later joined Tobby Tubby M.B. Church where he sang in the Male Chorus. He loved being in service. In July of 1945, Lee enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in February of 1948.

After returning home from the service, Lee was united in matrimony to Lillie B. Buford and to this union six children were born, Robert, Russell, Frankie, John, Diane, and Calvin. He later met and married Sara Bell Thompson in 1966. To this union, they were blessed with five children, Maren Denise, Barbara, Phyllis, Aundra, and Stanley.

Lee was a man of many skills and one of which was mechanical work, thus gaining him employment as the Service Mechanic Supervisor for the University of Mississippi. This career would span over 25 years allowing him to retire in 1986.

Lee enjoyed quartet singings and fishing. He also found enjoyment in going to the OPC ballpark with a small group of friends to watch the locals play softball. In his attending of these games, he was recognized by the OPC staff and received the Buster Dixon Classic Award for being a dedicated spectator. He was the last one left of the crew.

Lee was man who believed in his values and loved family. He was a foster grandparent for over 30 years, sworn Lafayette County Sheriff Deputy, member of Buford Chapel’s Masonic Lodge #523, and was able to drive until age 93.

Lee left this side of heaven on October 15, 2022 at 3:00 a.m. He was the patriarch of the family and will be greatly missed.

He leaves to cherish his memories eight children, Robert Buford of Coffeeville, MS, John (Vivian) Price, Diane Price McGlown, Barbara Thompson all of Oxford, MS, Maren Denise Crowder of Olive Branch, MS, Phyllis (William) Gipson of Oxford, MS, Aundra (Brenda) Price of Canton, MS, and Stanley (Janet) Price of Houston, TX; 35 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Ann Kimmons of North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Lillie and Sara; children, James Calvin, Lee Russell, and Frankie Price; grandchildren, John Wayne Frierson, Racheal Price and Cordanus Thompson; siblings, Ernest, Willie, Cal, Ellie Hue, and Beatrice Price and Etta Mae Braziel, and a special friend, Eunice Bell.
