Lillie Aikens Obituary

Lillie Mae Aikens, the eldest child of the late Elbert Aikens, Sr. and Rosie Mae Oliver Aikens, was born August 9, 1963, in Panola County, Mississippi.

Lillie professed a hope in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Saint Peters M.B. Church in Arkabutla, MS. She later became a member of New Greater Life Church in Sardis, MS where she remained a member until her death.

She was a proud graduate of North Panola’s class of 1984. After high school, Lillie began working for Air Control and was employed there for ten years. She then gained employment with R&R Donnelley and was with the company for 18 ½ years before it closed due to the pandemic.

Lillie had such a nurturing spirit, and she was considered to be her family’s nurse because she was always taking care of them. She had every kind of medicine they needed but most of all she had genuine love. She was a kindhearted person who truly enjoyed taking care of those she loved. Lillie’s laugh was infectious and could light up the coldest person’s heart. Her family would often tease her because she drove super slowly – having traffic stalled on Highway 51 because she was driving 30 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

In her spare time, Lillie thoroughly enjoyed watching tv, particularly scary movies, although she was scared of most things herself, shopping for cleaning supplies and disinfectants, recreational gaming and being around her family.

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Lillie traded her earthly life for eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her smile, love, and kindhearted spirit will be missed deeply. Left to cherish her memories are her life companion, Clyde Henderson of Como, MS; son, Alex Aikens of Como, MS; siblings, Josephine (JT) McGhee; one brother, Elbert (Felicia) Aikens, Jr.; nieces, Latoya and Ashley Aikens of Senatobia, MS,; nephews, Aaron and Jarvis McGhee of Como, MS, Elvin Miller of Las Vegas, NV, and Telvin Miller of Como, MS; great niece, Malloree Aikens of Senatobia, MS, Azalea Aikens of Cleveland, MS, Alexie Aikens of Como, MS; great nephews, Xavier and Mason Aikens of Senatobia, MS; uncle, Sonny Oliver of Jackson, MI; aunt, Lillie Ree Oliver of Jackson, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Rosie Mae Aikens, Sr.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
