Lorene Mitchell was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi, to the late Armelia Dukes and Lawrence Brassell, November 1, 1930. As a member of the Harrisonville MB Church, she served as a Nursery School worker with the infants, Sunday School secretary and Usher Board Ministry. She enjoyed cooking, reading, puzzles, keeping up with current events, and imparting family history.
Lorene resided in the West Springhill community in Oxford MS until 1970, when she moved to Gary, IN, where she peacefully transitioned into her heavenly home. During her time in the Indiana/Ohio areas, she served as a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Kenneth Byrd in Cambridge OH, and New Life Missionary Ministries under the leadership of Rev. Marvin E. Davis in Gary IN.
Lorene is preceded in death by her husband: R. D Mitchell; two sons Tommy and Ronnie Mitchell; Siblings: Riley Brassell, Gene Brassell, Hattie Mae Brooks, Maurine Cohran, and Lavern Freeman. Also, she is preceded in death by her stepmother: Annie "Ma Mae" Thompson Brassell.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Seven children: Martha Lois Mitchell, Michael D. Mitchell (Spouse, Esther), Larry D. Mitchell, Lee Anthony Mitchell, Kirby R Mitchell (Spouse, Vernita), Stephen Mitchell, and Vicci P. Gearon (Spouse, Howard). She leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, her loving sister: Patricia Brassell, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
