Lovie Green Obituary

Lovie Bell Malone-Green, the oldest child and only daughter of the late Albert and Beulah Malone, was born on November 7, 1924. She was devoted to her studies and received her education at Gordon School. This very devotion would be a trait that she would carry with her throughout her entire life.

Lovie confessed her hope and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age and later united with Greater Saint John Missionary Baptist Church. While at Saint John, she developed a true relationship with God and became dedicated to being a steward of the church. During her tenure, she served as chairperson for the Motherboard, prayer warrior for the Mission committee, Sunday School teacher, and assistant Sunday School Superintendent. Mrs. Lovie remained a true and faithful servant until her health declined.

Lovie was united in holy matrimony to the late Ira Green Jr., of Oxford MS. The Greens settled in Oxford and established a life filled with love. This union was blessed with 10 beautiful children, whom they loved dearly.

When she wasn’t at church, you could always find her doing what she enjoyed most, mentoring members of the community, reading scriptures with her children and grandchildren, singing hymns, and teaching everyone she encountered; how to call on the name of Jesus. Spending family time was also one of her favorite things to do.

On Monday, October 16, 2023, while surrounded by her loving and devoted children, Lovie answered her dear Master’s call and heard Him say, “servant well done.”

She leaves to cherish her memories of 6 children, Loretta (George) Archie, Vernesia (Ellis) Orange both of Oxford, MS, Sally (Scottie) Miller, of Pontotoc, James (Anna) Green of Memphis, Albert (Celeste) Green, Ira Green both of Oxford, MS; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 1 sister, Sharon Wilkins; 2 special nieces, JoLinda McDonald and Claretha Armstrong; 3 bonus daughters, Earnestine Hilliard, Mary Jean Harry, and Ella Boyd; a dear friend, Charlene Miller; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Lovie was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Green Jr.; her parent’s Albert and Beulah Malone; 4 children, Elizabeth, Isaac, Georgia, and Lee Edward Green; brother, Clarence Malone; grandson, Derick Booker; great-grandson, Jalyen Booker; great-grand daughters, Aniyah Davis and Alaya Sledge and a great-great grandson, Deshaun Mitchell and two daughters-in-law, Julia and Jawarner Green

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
