Lucas O’Bryan Hickonbottom was born February 4, 1987, in Oxford, MS to Barbara Ann Hickonbottom and Charles A. Jenkins. He was baptized and attended East Providence M.B. Church. Affectionately known as Opie to his family and friends, he received his education from the Oxford City Schools where he excelled in Track and Field. Opie loved music and to cook for his family and friends.
Opie had no biological children; however, he was the favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews and a genuine friend to his community. Opie departed this life on Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was loved and his memory will be cherished by his mother: Barbara and his father: Charles (Annette) both of Oxford, MS; three (3) sisters: Courtney Hickonbottom and Xanari Mitchell of Oxford, MS and Tequila Gillom of Horn Lake, MS; two (2) brothers: Marticus Gillom (Cheryl) of Hickman, KY and Cornelius Johnson of Oxford, MS; Three (3) Aunts: Kathleen Webb and Mary Lee King of Oxford, MS, Chenille Lynch (Camod) of Memphis, TN; four (4) uncles: Luke Hickonbottom, Jr., Patrick Archie and Cornelius Vaughn of Oxford, MS, and Ketrick (Veronica) Sims of Jackson, MS; three (3) Great Aunts: Elisha Vaughn, Frankye Jenkins and Apostle Eyvonne Smith (Pastor Harry) of Oxford, MS; one (1) Great Uncle: Rufus Jenkins, Jr. of Oxford, MS. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and The Rivers Hill Community family. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents: Luke and Rosie Lee Hickonbottom, and Cornelius and Hazelteen Jenkins of Oxford, MS; two (2) uncles: Ervin Brown and Terence Jenkins of Oxford, MS.
