Mr. Luther Egerson, known to most of his friends as, "Luther Jean," was born February 28, 1944, in Lafayette County, Mississippi, to the late Reverend Lee and Mildred Egerson.
Luther received his education at Taylor Vocational High School in Taylor, MS. Upon a visit with his brother, Wesley, in Racine WI, Luther met and married JoAnn Pegues. This union last until his death on March 9, 2026.
Luther was employed at Jacobsen Mfg. Company in Racine for over 24 years. In 2008, he and JoAnn moved back to his home house in Taylor where they enjoyed retirement, and doing everything together. Luther was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 4, 2012. He loved going to meetings and assemblies with the friends. He also loved planting vegetables, eating out with his family, watching old western movies and keeping his yard up.
Luther is survived by his wife, Joann; three sons: David Jean Luster of Indianapolis IN, Luther Jean Egerson, Jr., and Joseph Leon Egerson both of Racine WI; five sisters: Cenora McGee of Oxford MS, Thelma (Jimmie) Willingham, Relva (C.W.) Hariston, and Vermacy Corbitt all of Taylor MS and Alma (Lynn) Corbitt of Jackson MS; one-sister-in law: Earlene Egerson of Racine WI; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Reverend Lee and Mildred Egerson; his grandmother: Vermacy Brown; one brother: Wesley Egerson; four sisters: Nina Brown, Mildred Townsend, Cora Johnson and Martha Ivy; one brother-in-law: Barry Corbitt; a step-daughter: Christella Lynne Austin; and two grandsons: Brian Egerson and Charles Austin.

He will swallow up death forever and the sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth. For Jehovah himself has spoken it.
