Martha Jean Boone was born November 6, 1942 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Gertie Boone and John Henry Boone.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Burns U.M. Church, and later joined Second Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health failed. She served as a usher, and with the mission auxiliary.
She received her early education at Oxford Training School and later received her degree in Early Childhood Education from Rust College.
"Mot," as she was affectionately known, was one of the first teachers employed with ICS Headstart. She loved teaching and loved the children so much that she stayed with ICS Headstart for 48 years.
In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzles books, reading, music, serving, cleaning and especially spending time with family. Mot, was a great mom to her one and only child who she named Debra, but called her Debbie.
After suffering a stroke in 2017, Mot moved to Gig Harbor, WA where she was cared for by her loving grandson, Jamie, and his loving wife, Aeronica. Even with all the care and love of family, when the Lord says rest, it's time to rest - and on Monday, (Juneteenth) June 19, 2023 in the presence of her family, she was set free and went peacefully to her new home on high.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Debra Brown, Wisconsin, two grandsons, Jamie (Aeronica), Gig Harbor, WA; Nicholas (Sharonda) Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Aniya, Aliya and Nicholas, Jr.; three bonus grandchildren, Gabriel, Aniylah and JaShawn; two sisters Gladys Boone, Milwaukee, WI; Gwendolyn (Luster) King, Oxford, MS; two sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Gordon and Jeanette Johnson, one nephew and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gertie Boone, one sister, Ola Faye Boone, brothers, John Gordon, Curtis Johnson, and James Booker.
