Ms. Mary Grace Hunter was born August 6, 1978, in Bogo Cebu, Philippines to Tita Legson Alarde. She moved to Oxford at an early age as her mom pursued a degree at the University of Mississippi. Mary graduated from Oxford High School in 1997 and continued her education at Northwest Community College where she earned an associate's degree a few years later.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her cat Heaven. Mary had a very kind heart and believed it was big enough to spread love and kindness to everyone she encountered. She truly lived by the adage “treat others how you want to be treated.”
We believe that if she had one last message to give everyone it would be what she ended all her text messages to her children with: “Stay safe, stay sweet, stay smart in all that you do and in all your ways.” -Mary Grace.
After a long courageous health battle, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, Mary’s battle was won. She leaves to cherish her memory: her 2 daughters: Memorie B. Hunter-McIntosh of Memphis TN and Jada A. Hunter-McIntosh of Walls MS; her son: Keaton C. Hunter-McIntosh of Abbeville MS; her grandchildren: Jayce A. McIntosh and Jaxon R. Buford; her mother: Tita Herod of Graham NC; her bonus parents: Kenneth and Deborah McIntosh of Oxford MS and many other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her brother Dalton.
Please keep the Hunter/McIntosh family in your prayers
