Mary Lean Pegues

November 4, 1940 ~ August 19, 2020 (age 79)


Mary Lean Pegues was born November 4, 1940 to the late Inez (Sanders) and Robert Lee Johnson in Sardis, MS.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Harrisonville Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until her death.

Mary was united in matrimony to Glenn Pegues and together they had three children.

In her spare time, Mary enjoyed watching the news and her favorite show, Wheel of Fortune. She also loved reading her Bible, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.

On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, Mary departed her earthly life at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving daughter, Sandra Inez Dennis; two grandsons, Cedric Johnson and Derrick Dennis all of Oxford, MS; two step daughters, Debra Ann (Robert) Andrews, Corpus Christi, TX and Delores Jackson of Oxford, MS; one brother, Robert Lee (Betty) Johnson of Sanderson, AZ, very best friend, Mary Brown, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Annie Bell Jones.
