Melody Denise Brown Terrell, the beloved eldest of three children, was born on March 24, 1969,
to Jim and Lois Brown. From an early age, Melody’s life was rooted in faith, love, and service.
She accepted Christ at a young age and faithfully dedicated herself to her church and
community. Whether serving as a choir member, praise dance coordinator, creative program
designer, or a devoted Sister in Christ, Melody’s spirit of worship and willingness to serve
touched countless lives.
A proud graduate of Oxford High School’s Class of 1987, Melody carried with her cherished
friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. She continued her pursuit of excellence by
earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi in the summer of 1991.
Her professional journey reflected her diligence and integrity, as she worked for several years with Bancorp South before serving as a payroll coordinator at Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her reliability and dedication.
On May 25, 1991, Melody united in holy matrimony with the love of her life, Christopher E. Terrell, Sr. Their union was blessed with three children, and together they built a family rooted
in love, strength, and unwavering support. Melody’s devotion to her family was
immeasurable—she was their greatest encourager, their safe place, and their constant source of joy.
Melody found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved supporting her children and family in all their endeavors, singing, shopping, traveling, and expressing her unique sense of style. Her joyful spirit even extended to her love for Coke Icees. Above all, she was selfless—always ready to lend a helping hand, offer kind words, or be present for anyone in need.
Even through life’s challenges, Melody remained resilient, strong, and full of grace. Her faith
never wavered, and her determination to face each day with courage and hope was an
inspiration to all who knew her.
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, Melody peacefully transitioned from this life, surrounded by the
love of her family, to dwell eternally with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though her earthly presence is no longer with us, her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever remain in the
hearts of those she touched.
She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories: her devoted husband of 35 years,
Christopher E. Terrell Sr.; her loving children, Jenai S. Terrell, Natori K. Terrell, and Christopher E. Terrell Jr.; and her cherished grandchild, Zachary T. Harden, all of Oxford, Mississippi. She is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Jim and Lois Brown; her sister, Karen A. Brown; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and special in-laws.
Melody was preceded in death by her sister, Shona Shonté Brown; her maternal grandparents, Kara and Charlie Blackmon; and her paternal grandparents, C.D. and Mildred Ivy Brown.
Melody’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, love, and service. She will be deeply missed,
forever remembered, and always cherished.
