Mr. Melvin Savage, son of the late Cloyes Harwell was born September 27, 1957 in Union County, MS. He was married to Ola Mae Perry Savage, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Savage, for over thirty years served his community, surrounding churches, the city of Oxford and Lafayette County by delivering propane gas. He was recognized by many as a smart, kind, hardworking, and gentle man with a “boyish smile” who would go out of his way to help you. Most of all, Mr. Savage was a family man. He often sacrificed to make sure that his children had the best opportunities possible. Most of all, as a believer in Christ, it was very important that his children understood what it meant to respect themselves and others. It was also important for him to be a mentor to any young person who frequented his home and spent time with his family.
Known as “Peanut” by many friends and family, he will be remembered as a loving brother, cousin, and friend.
Mr. Savage went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital/North MS in Oxford, MS.
