Michael Edward Pegues

Michael Pegues was born in Chicago, IL on February 23, 1953 to the late Robert Tankersley and Thelma Smith. He was raised in Oxford by his loving grand parents, the late Elijah ("Big Boy") Pegues and his late wife Lillian Pegues.

He received his education in the Oxford School district and was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member there until death.

Mike, as he was known, was self employed as a carpenter and eventually joined his dad, "Big Boy" and uncle, "Lil Boy" (The Pegues twins) moving and building houses all across Mississippi. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi, Oxford, MS. 

Cherishing his memories are his children, Michael Miller and Kevin Pegues both of Oxford, MS, Judith Jones of Water Valley, MS, and Maria Harris of Oxford, MS, eight grandchildren, siblings, Larry Tankersley of Broadview, IL, Steven Rosales, Pasadena CA, Millicent Smith and Victoria Tankersley both of Los Angeles, CA, Lisa Maureen Smith, Marcia Smith, Adrian Smith, Patricia Carruthers, and Kathryn Hill-Green all of Atlanta, GA, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, grand parents, a son; Michael E. Flemons and a sister;  Diane Tankersley.
