MonQuarious "Munchi" DeAnte Gipson

MonQuarious DeAnte Gipson was born June 24, 1993, in Oxford, Mississippi to LaTonya Lee Gipson and Herbert Gipson. A happy, handsome, smiling child who brought much joy to his parents.

Munchi, as he was affectionately called, accepted Christ at an early age and joined East St. Peter M.B. Church. He received his formal education in the Oxford School District and was a graduate of the Oxford High School Class of 2011 where played Charger football, basketball and ran track. He late took up boxing.  After high school, Munchi attended Northeast Mississippi Community College where he did further college studies.

Munchi cared for and maintained his physical health by actively working out. He loved being physically fit. He enjoyed boxing, loved to smile, loved sports, was an avid reader, watching movies and he loved and loved being with his son.  Munchi, was chosen Youth of the Year for the L.O.U. Boys and Girls Club and was awarded a scholarship and was inducted into the Colin Powell  Society as an honorary member of the Boys and Girls Club.  Munchi formally worked as a warehouse assembler for Southland Casino. 

Munchi departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2020, in West Memphis AR. His sweet memory will linger in the hearts of those who loved him most, his only son: Karter Reese Gipson of Oxford MS; his mother: LaTonya Lee Gipson of Oxford MS; his father: Herbert (Mary) Gipson of Oxford MS; his brothers: Unique Gipson, Jordan Burnette and Elante Owens, and Chad Gipson all of Oxford MS and Deadrick Person of Fort Orwin CA; his maternal grandparents: Sarah Crawford and Jessie Lee, Sr., both of Oxford MS; his paternal grandmother: Deloris Willingham of Oxford MS; aunts : Cynthia (Lynn) Gilliam, Shaketia Shaw, Jessieka and JeLissa Lee all of Oxford MS and Pamela (Willie) Gayden of Milwaukee WI; and special auntee: Carlene Burt of Oxford MS; cousins: DeMoncus Vaughn, Lorane Lee, DeAundrea Vaughn, D'Jon Lee, and Desmond Lee; and lifelong special friends: Mikey Certion and Larry Pettis; Munchi also leaves other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Munchi was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Herbert Shaw and Ricky Willingham and grandmother: Samantha Shaw; aunt: Forteshia Shaw and uncle Jessie Lee, Jr.
