Norvell Thompson Mitchell was born July 2, 1939, in Lafayette County, Mississippi, to the late Peter LZ Thompson and Rosie Lee Bowie. She professed a hope in Christ and united with West St. Peter United Methodist Church in Oxford, Mississippi, and later joined St. Paul United Methodist Church of Oxford.
Mrs. Mitchell was united in matrimony to L.C. Mitchell who preceded her in death. She was a residence manager with the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Mississippi. Narvell was a woman who enjoyed cooking and she loved her family.
Mrs. Narvell Thompson Mitchell departed this life on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: one daughter: Miami Thompson Fountain (Michael) of Houston, Texas; one son: Prince Lee Thompson (Earmera) of Oxford. Mississippi; three sisters: Ella Boyd (James, deceased) of Oxford Mississippi, Joann Thomas and Susie Thomas both of St. Louis, Missouri; two brothers: Chester Starks (Leona) of Oxford and John Eddy Thomas of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Taray, Marque, Marquita, Candice, Shannon, Neal and Angie; twelve great grandchildren: Timarra, Kimberly, Champagne, Christopher, III., Savannah, Christopher, Jr., Carlie, Benjamin, Kingston, Callista, Major and Max, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her parents: Peter LZ Thompson and Rosie Lee Wlson; and her husband: L. C. Mitchell.
