Mrs. Pearlie Mae Pegues Tallie Buford was born to Clarence and Annie Liza Pegues on July 23, 1929. She accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.
She later became a member of Jordan Chapel where she remained a member until her passing on December 16, 2020. She served as president of the stewardesses at Jordan Chapel.
From her union with Rufus Tallie (who preceded her in death), seven children were born. Also preceding her in death were two children – Selena Tallie Watts and James Roy Tallie; a grandchild – Jennifer Tallie; brothers – J.C. and A.P. and sisters – Carlenna, Lurrenner and Allie Mae.
Later she married Pastor Johnny C. Buford, who also preceded her in death.
She enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, gardening and spending time with her daughter at garage sales. She loved going to church and her church family.
Mother Buford is survived by her sons Carl Wayne Tallie (Mary) of Oxford, MS; James Melvin Tallie (Michelle) of Saltillo, MS, Micheal Tallie (Jackie) of Denton, TX, and Alvin Watts (son-in-law) of Houston, TX. Her surviving daughters are Christine Blakley of Oxford and Toni Lynch (David) of Abbeville, MS.
She is survived by 23 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and special niece, Angilee Pettis and nephew, Freddie Pegues (Ruth), along with a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
