Ramey Westbrook, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Ramey Westbrook, Jr. son of the late Ramey Westbrook and Willie Ester Westbrook, was born in Lafayette County, Mississippi on October 19, 1953. Ramey accepted Christ at an early age at New Hope M.B. Church in Oxford, Mississippi. He later united with Second M.B. Church in Oxford, Mississippi under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Wadlington.

Ramey received his early education at Weems Elementary School in Taylor and later received a General Education Development Certificate (GED). He was united in matrimony to Henrietta Brown and to this union a daughter, Mary, was born. He later married Melvin Jean Westbrook. 

Ramey was a hard working-man. He was employed with Georgia-Pacific Corp and upon retiring from Georgia-Pacific he became a truck driver for B & B Concrete. He also worked as a handyman for Diane  Coleman and Mary Ann Connell where he maintained their swimming pools. Ramey loved motorcycles and he was a member/President of the Oxford Night Owls Motorcycle Club. He was also a member the Oxford Masonic Lodge #16, member of the Lafayette County Men's Civic Club, enjoyed playing spades, he coach softball and was a softball and baseball umpire for the Oxford Park Commission for many years.

As active as Ramey was, God needed him to rest, and on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, the Lord called him to rest from his labor. He is lovingly survived by his daughter: Mary Young of Oxford MS; his wife: Melvin Jean Westbrook of Oxford MS;  two grandchildren; his stepson: Timothy Jones of Oxford MS; a godson: Michael Bell of Taylor MS; his siblings: Willie Bibbs Ford, Earnestine Sisk, Annie (Scottie) Wortham and Melvin (Joyce) Westbrook all of Oxford MS; a special uncle: Lee Russell Boles of Taylor MS; step siblings: Martha (John Robert) Flemons, Ethel (Lamar) Flemons, Robert Earl Boles, Shirley Flemons and Jessie Lee (Lois) Boles all of Toccopola MS; James Earl (Lee) Boles of Clarksville TN, Lillie Ann Walker of Abbeville MS, Annie Walker of Oxford MS; and of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, 

Ramey is preceded in death by his parents; Ramey and Willie Ester Westbrook, and a half sister: Bobbie Jean Boles.
