Robert Lorrell Sanders

Robert Lorrell Sanders was a man whose life was defined by love, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family. Born in Oxford, Mississippi, on June 20, 1990, to Robert Sanders and Petsy Ramsey, Robert embraced the world with a spirit that touched everyone around him.

Robert was baptized at an early age and his faith was a guiding force throughout his life. During his high school years, he showcased his athleticism and teamwork as a standout football player for the Oxford Chargers and the Lafayette Commodores. His dedication on the field was evident in his strong work ethics and passion for the game, earning him respect from teammates and coaches alike.

Robert's competitive spirit and leadership qualities not only contributed to his teams' successes, but also helped forge lasting friendships and memories that he cherished throughout his life. Robert's time playing football instilled valuable lessons about resilience, collaboration, and the importance of community.

From an early age, he was drawn to the freedom of the open road, finding joy and camaraderie as a proud member of The Night Owls motorcycle club. This club was more than just a gathering of riders. It was a brotherhood that celebrated the open road and shared a passion for adventure. Robert embraced the club's values of loyalty and friendship, forging deep connections with fellow members. His passion for riding motorcycles was not just a hobby; it was a way of life. 

Robert’s greatest pride came from being a father to his five children—Xaiden, Jaiden, Jaidah, Ariyah, and Raylen—and a devoted grandfather to London. He cherished every moment spent with them, creating a warm and loving environment where laughter and love flourished. Family gatherings were filled with joy, and Robert’s presence always brought a sense of comfort and happiness.

Lorrell's love for traveling led him to choose trucking as a dedicated career, spending over 14 years on the road with KLLM and Kendrick Henderson, whom he considered a brother. He embraced the challenges of the highway, finding pride in his work and stories he gained along the way which brought laughter and smiles to many faces. Lorrell enjoyed the passion until God called him to be an angel of afar.

Outside of work, Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing pool, often sharing these moments with family and friends. These simple pleasures reflected his love for connection and the joy he found in life’s little adventures.

On September 27, 2020, Robert was united in holy matrimony to Santana Gary, solidifying a bond filled with love and partnership. Together, they created a home rooted in affection and support, enriching each other’s lives.

Robert Lorrell Sanders leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep connections. He passed away on July 14, 2024, and he is survived by his wife, Santana; his son, Xaiden Smith; his children in marriage, Jaiden Gray, Jaidah Gray, Ariyah Gray, and Raylen Townsend; his grandmother, Evelyn Ramsey; his mother, Petsy; his father, Robert; and his sister, Chiquita. He is also remembered by aunts, Diana Sanders, Mary Brassell, Christeen Sanders, Lillie Ramsey, Cora Sanders, Patricia Pegues, Theresa Ramsey, and Patsy Ramsey; his uncles, James Ramsey and Willie Brassell; as well as his beloved in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert’s impact on his family and community will always be felt. Robert is preceded in death by his grandfather, Walter Ramsey; his grandmother, Bertha Sanders; and his uncle, Aaron Sanders, who remain cherished in memory.

Robert's passing leaves behind a profound void. Yet, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. As we reflect on his life, we celebrate a man who embraced adventure, cherished family, and created lasting memories—a true inspiration to us all.
