Rodney Terrell Pegues was born March 6, 1970 to Jernell Slaughter and the late Edward Lee Pegues in Oxford, MS. He was reared by his mother and stepfather, Amos Greer, Jr.
Rod, as he was affectionately called, professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. He loved going to church and would often fellowship with New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Rod attended Lafayette County schools where he played basketball. He was a graduate of Lafayette’s class of 1988. After high school, Rod went on to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy. He served for three years and returned home with an honorable discharge.
Rod was a people person. He never met stranger. He loved joking around and making people laugh. In his spare time, Rod enjoyed fishing, riding four wheelers, going to casino, working on cars, spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing and watching basketball, particularly the L.A. Clippers, watching the Green Bay Packers, and going to church.
Rod departed his earthly life to be with the Lord on January 27, 2021 at his home.
