Rodrel Deunta Mathis, son of Jacqueline Mathis and Rodney Flowers, was born, July 25, 1992, in Oxford, Mississippi. As a child, Rodrel attended school in the Lafayette County School District. He moved to Virginia with other plans. settled in Roanoke and remained there.
Rodrel was a caring young man who loved his children, enjoyed sports, listening to music and spending time with his family. James 4:14 describes life as being like a vapor. It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. Rodrel's life was like a vapor. It appeared for a little time and on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in Roanoke, Virginia, the vapor vanished and Rodrel was taken from the mortal life.
Rodrel was raised by Dexter Washington, Sr., whom he loved dearly and called Dad. Dexter preceded him in death on March 6, 2023. Rodrel is survived by his loving children: Za'Riyah Mathis, Zakwon Mathis, Jamazie Brunson and Adonis Mathis; his mother: Jacqueline Mathis of Holly Springs MS; his father: Rodney Flowers of Batesville MS; his unconditionally loving, maternal grandmother: Annie Carrothers of Abbeville MS; and his paternal grandmother: Christine Flowers of Batesville MS; his paternal grandfather: James Flowers of Batesville MS; his sisters: Jasmine Moore and Treasure Washington both of Holly Springs MS, Paige Taylor, Ikeyna McCombs, Keshae Flowers and Sanna Reed, all of Chicago IL; his brother: Dexter Washington, Jr. of Holly Springs MS; four favorite aunts: Alicia Moore, Mary Stewart, Tonya Adams, and Shelia Flowers; a favorite uncle: James Mathis and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
