Rosie Coleman Obituary

Rosie Mae Coleman, was born March 11, 1942 to John and Debora Morgan Murray in Oakland, MS.  Rosie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Philadelphia MB Church in Oxford, MS.

Throughout her life, she was a pillar of strength and love to her family. She was a woman of many passions. Rosie cherished her time cooking and fishing. She was instrumental in starting their concrete business, C & R Construction.

Rosie's  presence at Philadelphia MB Church in Oxford, MS, was a testament to her faith and community spirit. When she was driving, she was there. When she couldn’t drive anymore because of her vision, her grandson, Da’Quan, drove her. When Da’Quan couldn’t drive her to church, the church van picked her up. Rosie was determined to worship and assembly among God’s people. She was a beacon of love and kindness, and she will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by all who knew her, especially her Philadelphia church family.

On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, while in her home with her family by her side, Rosie Coleman transitioned from mortal to immortality. No more sickness. No more pain, and now, perfect vision.

She is survived by her children, Henrietta (Carl) Pettis of Oxford, MS;  Alicia A. Coleman of Boston, MA and Leearon Coleman of Oxford, MS; her sister: Rena Mae Quarles of Texas; six grandchildren: Derick (Dawn) Tyler, Elisha A. Coleman, Gerrin Boyce, Lashetta Coleman, Shanicwa Coleman, and Talron Coleman; eleven great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents: John and Debora Murray; her loving husband: Henry C. Coleman; her son: Henry C. Coleman, Jr. (aka: Willie), and her grandson: Da'Quan S. Coleman; and siblings: William, Charles, Roy, Margaret, Cordie Mae, Irena, Annie Mae, Juanita, James, Margaret, and Dorothy.

“Oh, how I loved Jesus, because he first loved me.”
“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with our hands, eternal in the Heavens” Corinthians 5:1
