Rosie Lee Townsend was born May 30, 1941, in Taylor, MS to the late Cordis Lee and Daisy Carothers Townsend.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at South Salem M.B. Church, now New Salem M.B. Church, where she remained a member until her death.
Rosie received her education from Taylor school. She was united in matrimony to L.V. Jones and to this union four children were born.
She loved to cook and was employed at the University of Mississippi. She also enjoyed fishing and being with her family.
Rosie had a strong will power and fighter’s persona. Her love for her children was undeniable and she took great pride in being a mother and caretaker to her children and grandchildren.
On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, Rosie passed away at her home in Oxford, MS. Left to cherish her memories are her children, L.C. Jones of Grenada, MS and Charlene Jones of Oxford, MS; two grandchildren, Shena Jones of Atlanta, GA and LaQuisha Jones of Oxford, MS; five great grandchildren; brother, Earnest Lee Townsend of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her children, James Earl Jones, Peggy Ann Jones; siblings, Jimmie Townsend, Mary Lee Vaughn, Betty Ruth Vaughn, Martha Helen Jones, and Mattie Sue Ivy.
