Rosie Pearl Jones was born on May 20, 1959, to the late Fred “Tom Cat” and Sarah Oliver Jones in Oxford, MS.
Pearl, as she was affectionately known, professed Christ as her savior at an early age and joined Philadelphia M.B. Church.
She attended Lafayette County Schools and was employed as a food service worker with the school district. She became known as the “Lunch Lady” and worked faithfully for 10 years before her health failed.
Being around family and friends, playing cards, and talking with her sisters were a few of her favorite past times.
Rosie Pearl Wicks traded this life for her eternal home on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her two daughters, Michelle Jones and Linda Jones both of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren whom she raised as her own, Miesha Jones and James Williams III (Destiny Washington) both of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughters, Tanautica Hilliard, Xa’Kydra Hilliard both of Oxford, MS, Jamesha Jones, Jamya Williams all of Indianapolis, IN; grandsons, Jaquan Jones,Jadarius Williams, Xavier Williams, Damarion Jones all of Indianapolis, IN; great-granddaughters, Enijah Vaughn, RaNyla Scruggs, Ra’Niah Scruggs all of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandsons, Xane Mohn, Kyng Hilliard both of Oxford, MS, Jayce Williams; two sisters, Hilda Black and Maggie Harwell both of Indianapolis, IN; granddaughter-in-law, Destiny Washington of Indianapolis, IN; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers, four sisters, and great-grandson, Zakay’lin Jones.
