Ruby Diane Bell was born on March 1, 1966 in Abbeville, MS to Isaac and Jossie Mae (Couch) Bell. She departed this life on December 4, 2022 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Ruby, affectionately known as “Pookie,” accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jefferson Chapel Church, and later joined East St. Peter MB Church where she remained until her death.
Ruby graduated from Lafayette High School in 1985. She was employed with Oxford Wire and Cable for over 20 years, and later the University of Mississippi where she was a faithful and hardworking employee for 12 years.
Ruby devoted her life to her two sons, and instilled in them an appreciation of life and her hard-working spirit. She was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren, and anyone who knew her knew how proud she was of them. She enjoyed gardening, working, cooking, and being with her family. A joy to everyone she met, Pookie always had a smile to accompany her sweet loving spirit.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her two sons; Terrance (Amber) Brown, Batesville MS, Terice Bell, Oxford, MS; 3 granddaughters, Azaria, Ava, and Madysen. A loving life partner for over 20 years, Willie Brown, Abbeville MS; 5 brothers George (Ossie) Bell, Holly Springs, MS, Isaac (Rosie) Bell, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lawrence Bell, Oxford MS, David (Lisa) Bell, Etta MS, and Willie (Emma) Bell, Abbeville MS; 5 sisters, Mattie Bell, Davenport IA, Mary Campbell, Oxford MS, Josephine (Will) May, Bessie (Dave) Grams, and Lisa Bell all of Atlanta GA; loving aunt and mother figure, Bessie Dixon, Abbeville, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Josie Mae Bell; sister, Annie Burt; sister-in-law, Alice Bell; nephew, Luscious Steffon Burt; and niece, Linda Bell.
