Ruth Buford was born September 30, 1950 in Abbeville, MS to the late Lucinda “Babysister” Buford and the late James McGhee.
She professed a belief and hope in Christ at an early age and joined Springfield M.B. Church, where she remained a faithful member until her death.
Ruth did not have any biological children, but she raised most of her siblings, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and those that grew up in the Springfield community. She always greeted you with a smile and was always willing to help anyone. She succumbed to a massive stroke on March 14, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Left to cherish Ruth’s memories are her siblings: Shelia Kay (Gerald) Bowdry, James Buford, Jeff Archie, Tracy (Edward) Lewis, Edna Williams, Shirley (Billy) Hutchins, Candy (Timothy) Smith, Janis Brooks, Timothy (Jackie) Harden, Dirk McGhee, Richard (Cynthia) Burnett, Patricia Dunn, Ricky (Sherry) McGhee, Ronnie (Margaret) Burnett, Stephanie (Mario) Wilborn, Karen McGhee, Chris (Camilla) Buford, one very special aunt: Cynthia McGhee, one very special uncle: Chester Buford, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Jessie James Buford, Ruby Buford, Ronald Swinney, Robbie “Chic” Buford, and RJ Buford.
