S T Gipson

S T Gipson, son of  the late Florence Lewis Gipson and Corrie Gipson, Jr, was born in Lafayette County Mississippi on June 17, 1943. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined  Burns United Methodist Church and later united with St. Paul CME Church who merged with Christ Temple CME Church. S T served faithfully at Christ Temple until his health failed. He served as a stewart, bus driver and sang with the male choir at one time. 

S T received his early education at Oxford Training School. S T loved to fix things. He could break it, just to fix it.. He drove trucks for many years and was known for being able to direct you straight to your destination anywhere you were trying to go. He re tired from Rebel Motor Freight after 37 years as a truck driver.

S T united in matrimony to Mary Jenkins in 1963. They were the parents of five children. Two children, Iris and Corey preceded him in death. On Tuesday, August 27, 2019, God dispatched an angel to the Gipson's home and the angel told him that his room was ready to move in and S T went home to be with the Lord.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Jenkins Gipson of Oxford, children: Detrick Jenkins of Atlanta GA, Marion (Michael) Smith, and Stacie Gipson both of Oxford MS; three grandchildren: Justin Hilliard, D'Marquis (Alexis) Gipson, Tykia Gipson all of Oxford MS; siblings: Rudell Gipson, Charlie Gipson, Glenn (Shirley) Gipson, Carlene Burt, William (Phyllis) Gipson, Deloris Willingham, Otis (Linda) Gipson, Michael Gipson, David Boone, Gatewood Boone, and Carolyn (Cornelius) Avant; And one aunt: Roberta Byrd. Sister-n-laws: Elisa (Edward) Vaughn and Apostle Eyvone (Harry) Smith and brother-in-law: Rufus Jenkins, Jr.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Corrie and Florence Gipson and one sister: Murlean Young precede him in death.
