Samuel Carothers Obituary

Samuel Carothers was born on August 6, 1953, in Lafayette County, MS, to the late James and Rachel Campbell Carothers.  Samuel’s mother passed away when he was a young child.  His father remarried Shirley McGlown Carothers and they both raised him in Taylor, MS.

He was a 1971 graduate of Lafayette High School in Oxford, MS, and later attended Mississippi Industrial College in Holly Springs, MS.  It was in middle school that he met his high school sweetheart, Barbara Smith, whom he later married on April 9, 1972.  Their union was blessed with three loving children, Trinette, Sean, and Samantha.

Before retiring in 2009, Samuel worked 32 years at the Whirlpool Corporation in Oxford, MS, where he held several positions in facilities maintenance, including supervisor and facilities engineer. He enjoyed playing basketball, softball, bowling, cattle-farming, and watching his grandchildren play sports.

After studying God’s word, Samuel dedicated his life to Jehovah and symbolized his dedication through baptism in 1981.  He faithfully and proudly served Jehovah as a ministerial servant and regular pioneer. He loved sharing what Jehovah’s Kingdom will do for mankind with others.

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Samuel fell asleep in death. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Rachel Carothers, siblings, James Carothers, Jr., and Patricia Faye Williams.
