Sang B. Watts, formerly of Oxford, MS, passed away in Waltham, MA on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021. She was born on February 7, 1954 to Mildred Ivy Brown and C.L. Driver, both preceded her in death. Sang was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2019. She faced chemo, surgery, multiple procedures and stayed positive and strong until the very end. Sang will be remembered for her smile, one that could light up a room, her laugh, her positivity, her loving, caring personality, and her perseverance.
Sang was a 1971 graduate of Oxford High School. She met her husband, Michael Watts, while he was attending Ole Miss University and she was working at Danver's. They married on December 22, 1978. After Michael completed his commitment to the Navy, they settled in the Boston area, where they raised two children, Dion and Ivy. Sang was a pre-school teacher’s aid for 15 years with the Waltham Public School System. She continued to work during the Pandemic and was looking forward to retiring in June. Sang loved being outside, especially by the water, going on morning walks, shopping at Kohls, TJ Maxx, and Target, exercising, practicing yoga and meditation, doing sudoku puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. Throughout her battle with pancreatic cancer, she continued to provide compassion to her family, friends and students, always knowing the right words to say. Sang’s spirit, warmth, energy and love will be with us forever and will forever remain in our hearts.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Michael, their children, Dion Watts and Ivy Watts-Calixte (David); siblings Jimmy Brown (Lois Ann), Shirley Gipson (Glenn), Paula Brown, Sarah Brown, and Lois Davis (Eddie); her in-laws Mary Watts (Noel), Patricia Watts-Gordon (Charles), Thelma Watts, Robert Watts (Karen), and Jim Watts (Toni); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who all adored her.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Sang on June 5, 2021 in Waltham, MA. She did not want her celebration to be sad, so there will be drinks and dancing. Come with your best smile and wear purple, her favorite color.
