Sarah Alexander was born on March 20, 1951 in Batesville, MS to the late Leona Baker-Fletcher and Revance Fletcher. She was the baby girl and youngest of seven siblings.
Sarah loved God and accepted him as her personal savior at a young age. From then on, her faith shaped her choices, her compassion, and the way she cared for the people around her. Sarah received her education in the Batesville School System and graduated from South Panola High School in 1972.She later received her cosmetology license in 1985 from Janesville Academy.
After spending the majority of her life in Batesville, MS; Sarah relocated to Milwaukee, WI; where she met the love of her life: Augustus Alexander in October 2007. The two lovebirds were married September 22, 2008.
Sarah was employed with Walmart until her retirement in 2012. She was a diva with a great taste for fashion, and wherever she went, glamour followed like a shadow. Her taste for design and style showed in how she decorated her home; every room arranged with rich textures and carefully chosen pieces that reflected her personality as vividly as her wardrobe did. She loved holidays and cooking great meals for her family; the kitchen was her stage, and every dish she prepared was another way she showed her love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a wonderful mother to five children, of which one son, Harold D. Hughes, preceded her in death.
Sarah transitioned to her heavenly home on November 26, 2025. She was greeted at the Heavenly Gates by her parents and four sisters: Irene, Johnnie Mae, Anna Mae, and Delois.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: Her Devoted Husband: Augustus Alexander (of Milwaukee, WI); Sons she absolutely adored: Hubert D. Hughes (of Beloit, WI), Torry (Tanika) Hughes (of Batesville, MS), Tony Hughes (of Beloit, WI); her one and only daughter whom she cherished: Tomeka Hughes (of Milwaukee, WI); a special stepson: Augustus Alexander (of Chicago, IL); 19 beautiful grandchildren; 11 wonderful Great-grandchildren; 2 siblings whom she shared a close bond with: Sister: Frances Howell (of Oxford, MS) and Brother: Reese Fletcher (of Chicago, IL); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"
Please keep the Alexander/Fletcher family lifted in prayer.
