Shaquita Woodard Obituary

Shaquita Lanae Woodard departed this life on August 12, 2024 at the age of 32, following  a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 20, 1991, in Grenada, MS, to Early Jones, Jr. of Charleston, MS and Markiela Woodard of Oakland, MS. Shaquita confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Alvis Grove MB Church where she was actively engaged in the Choir and the leader of the Praise Dancers. 

She was a graduate of Water Valley High School. Later on, Shaquita took on several employment opportunities in Home Health, Daycare Teaching and employment at Solero Technology until  her health declined.  She was a kind, loving and generous person who would help anyone. She was very family oriented and most of all, she was a loving and caring mother. Shaquita loved cooking and sharing her prepared meals with others, babysitting and playing a big part in events and family gatherings. She also loved singing, dancing and making others laugh. She really was "the life of the party" and she will truly be missed.

Shaquita leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter:Jalylah Horton of Water Valley, MS; her father: Early Jones, Jr. of Oakland, MS; and loving mother: Markiela (Albert) Woodard Horton of Water Valley, MS; five sisters: Tanecia Jones of Coffeeville, MS, Dakedra (Joseph) Woodard Witt of Oxford, MS, Katelyn Jones of Cincinnati, OH, Nykeria Black and Stormi Black both of Batesville, MS; two brothers: Javier Jones of Charleston, MS and Nathaniel Jones of Cincinnati, OH; grandmother: Nora Woodard of Oakland, MS; two special uncles: Timothy Woodard of Oxford, MS and Aaron Woodard of Oakland, MS and four special aunts: Daphane Woodard of Oxford, MS, Felicia Jones of Oakland, MS, Francha Jones of Southaven, MS, and Roselle Ellis of Memphis, TN; nine  cousins; Adrian  Woodard, II of Olive Branch, MS, Linda Hooper of Memphis, TN, Cadarrius Kincaide of Oxford, MS, Terrica Glover of Oxford, MS, Montarious Flowers of Pope, MS, Alex Jones, Jr of Oakland, MS, Alexis Bowens and Callisa Bowens both of Southaven, MS, Centario Jones of Little Rock, AR, Tyne Ellis of Memphis, TN and Jessica Ewing both of Memphis, TN;  two very special friends: Moquinada Gooch of Water Valley, MS and Olivia Spearman of Water Valley, MS and dear god-mother: Clarean Coffey of Grenada, MS.  

She was preceded in death by her twin daughters: Jayda and Jakyrah Horton; her brother: Early Jones, III: grandparents; Alphonso Bland, Jr., Early Jones, Sr. and Gloria Jones; and uncle: Alex Jones.
