Shelby Burney, son of the late Jessie Wadlington and Mary Lynn "Martin" Blackmon, was born September 7th, 1957, in Memphis TN.
Shelby accepted Christ at an early age and join North Hopewell M.B. Church in Taylor MS. He received his formal education in the Lafayette County School District.
Shelby was known for his famous cornbread, biscuits and spaghetti, even though he perfected many more dishes. His cooking skills afforded him the opportunity to work several years in the food industry. Shelby was also known for his joking, and his outspoken personality.
Shelby made his transitioned on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, in Water Valley MS. His love was felt and received by his family and friends.
To cherish his memories, he leaved: two brothers: John (Victoria) Burney and William Burney (Betty Crawford) both of Oxford MS: several step siblings of Memphis TN; his aunts: Annie Curtis of Memphis TN, Maudie Rockette of Water Valley MS and Roberta Johnson of Oxford MS; his nieces and nephews: Gregory Burney, Latoria Lee, Wikisha Crawford, William Burney, Jr., Dale (Nekeishia) Burney, Reginald Burney, Cameron Hill and Treshawn Williams; a host of great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Shelby is preceded in death by his parents: Jessie Wadlington & Mary Lynn (Martin) Blackmon and a special niece: Malinda (Poo) Burney.
