Shermon Buford Obituary

Shermon Buford, son of Thomas Jefferson Buford, Sr. and the late Lavern Hilliard Foster, was born in Coldwater, Mississippi. Shermon was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church. He received his education in the Oxford School District and graduated with the Oxford High School Class of 1973. After high school, Shermon did some further college studies before joining the United States Army National Guard.

After a short term with the US National Guard, he received an honorable discharge and returned home to Oxford. Shermon became employed as a fork lift operator with Walmart. He was united in matrimony to Stella Frierson. Due to health condition, he retired and settled into enjoying life by attending church, singing in the male choir, watching sports, fishing, playing cards and just enjoying life.

On Friday, October 9, 2020, while in his home, Shermon was called home to eternal rest. He will be lovingly missed by his wife: Stella Buford of Oxford MS; a son: Kerry Pettis of Oxford MS; his siblings: James Pinson (Carolyn) of Houston TX, Wayne Buford and Darlene Buford both of Chicago IL, Jeffery Buford of CA and Cassandra Pinson Johnson (Dwight) of Oxford MS. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends..
