Sherrita LaShae (Young) Murray

Sherrita LaShae "Shae" Murray, also affectionately called "Pooh Bear" and "Rat," was born January 11, 1983, in Oxford, Mississippi, and was the oldest of two children born to the union of James and Bettie Young.

Shae accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hammitt Hill United Methodist, which later merged with Burns United Methodist Church which later became known as Oxford First United Methodist Church. Shae was very active in church. She sang in the Inspirational Choir and worked with the youth along with Minister Tressie. She loved singing and sung with a gospel quartet group called "Faith" which later became known as "One Accord" where she was lead singer.

She received her education in the Oxford School District and graduated from Oxford High School. Shae continued her educational studies at the University of Mississippi and was presently working on her Bachelor's Degree. Shae was blessed with a son, TyVuyrea "Ty" and she gained a bonus daughter, Heaven, in 2020, when she married her soul mate, Neil Murray. 

Shae begin her employment with Larson's Big Star and Angel Ranch, but with a desire to be the best that she could be, she was determined to move up a little higher. So she pursued other jobs at the University of Mississippi, in places like the Counseling Center, South Oxford Center (SOC), The Law School, and the Math & Science Building. 

Shae was raised in church and she loved her church. She had a passion for singing and cooking, and she loved her family. Even though her family loved her very much, God loved her more and on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, while in Baptist Memorial Hospital/NM, Sherita LaShae Murray, received a call from the one who loved her most, letting her know that her battle was over and He needed her to take His hand and she went home to be with the Lord.

She will be missed deeply missed by her family and all that loved her. She leaves a legacy of memories with the love of her life, her husband: Neil Murray of Oxford MS; her son: TyVuyrea "Ty" Campbell and her bonus daughter: Heaven Murray, both of Oxford MS; her parents: James and Betty Young of Oxford MS; her brother: Kevin Young of Oxford MS; her father and mother-in-law: Hubert and Stella Murray of Oxford MS; her nieces and nephews: Kasiyah, Anijah, Kaiden, Kileigh, Ashton, and Alondyn; two great aunts: Georgia Bryant and Emma Perry both of Oxford MS; best friend: Rhonda Bush; and a host of close aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Shae is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents: Avant and Josephine Vaughn; paternal grandparents: U. P. and Fannie Couch; her aunt: Annette Vaughn Brown; great aunt: Mary Lucille Fludd, and great grandmother: Victoria Boone.
