Terry Moore Carrothers was born August 29, 1954, in Oxford, MS to the late Katherin Corothers and Tom Toles. Raised in a loving home, Terry was reared by his bonus mother, Ruthie Armstrong, and the Dukes family.
Terry or “Shot Gun,” as he was sometimes called, attended Lafayette County schools. He gained employment as a radio host with WSUH Radio Station in Oxford, MS and later became an independent truck driver for several years. He traveled to many different places while driving and would often share his stories of the beautiful sceneries in each town. After his health declined in 2013, he was forced to stop driving.
Terry loved classic cars and in his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing his guitar, and being at home.
In December 2019, Terry was baptized and joined New Freedom Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Edwin Smith. He remained a faithful member until his death.
In the early hours of Saturday, March 19, 2022, Terry passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi.
Left to cherish his memories are his children, Terry L. Carrothers (Cynthia) of Olive Branch, MS, Nakia Carrothers, Tosha Carrothers Tyson (Ketric), Antonio D. Carrothers, and Trampas Carrothers all of Oxford, MS; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; devoted companion, Martha Carrothers of Oxford, MS; siblings, Fredrick Carothers (Pamela), Kathy Corothers, Dedura Carothers (Glen) all of Oxford, MS, Bernard Wells (Janet) of Minneapolis, MN, Anthony Corothers (Dorene) of El Paso, TX, and Donnell Wells of Tupelo, MS; entire Dukes family of College Hill Switch; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, bonus mother, Ruthie Armstrong, and siblings, Ellen Barr, Robert Corothers, and Adell Armstrong.
