U G Gable

U G Gable or “Mane,” as he was affectionately called, was born March 1, 1945, to the late Birl and Leona (Mathis) Gable. He departed from his earthly home on October 15, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi, to go to his heavenly home. He professed his belief in Christ at an early age and joined East St. Peter M.B. Church and was later baptized in 2017 and remained a faithful member until his departure.

U G attended Central High School and graduated with the Class of 1968.

On September 13, 1975, UG married Classie Mae Reynolds and to this union, no children were born but they helped raise some of their nieces and nephews whom they truly loved.

U G was a quiet and reserved person who loved his wife, family, friends, and church. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for a person if he could. He loved participating in Sunday school where he could ask questions, learn, and be spiritually fed.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 47 years, Classie Gable of Oxford, MS; siblings, Eugene (Marie) Gable of Abbeville, MS, Betty Gipson, whom was also his caregiver, Jimmie Thompson both of Oxford, MS, Annie Carothers of Etta, MS, and Linda Mathis of Greenwood, MS; special great-great niece, Summer Addison; two sisters-in-law, Mary Reed and Josie Caruthers both of Abbeville, MS; special cousins/caregivers, Milton and Dorothy Vaughn of Oxford, MS, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

U G was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers-in-law, Willie B. Gipson, Will Chapman, Leroy Carrothers, and Melvin Thompson.
