Ulysses Ivy, Jr., was born on July 13, 1959, in Oxford, Mississippi to the late Ruthie Thompson Ivy and Ulysses Ivy, Sr. In 1960, shortly after his birth, the family moved to Miami, FL and remained there until to 1973. After relocating back to Oxford, he attended Oxford High School and accepted Christ at Buford Chapel United Methodist Church.
“Squeaky,” as he was lovingly called, loved books and was an avid reader. During his stay away from Oxford he offered his services in various libraries. With his return to his hometown, he quickly rededicated himself to Buford Chapel and was a very active member.
Squeaky played football in high school and was a sports fan. Somewhat raised in Miami, FL, it’s obvious that his favorite team would be the Miami Dolphins.
Squeaky had a swagger about himself and loved to dress. He was known for his hat collection, especially his love of fedoras. He loved people and life. He loved his family.
Ulysses was called home to be with the Lord Friday, June 24, 2022. He is survived by his daughter, Taletha Parham Beasley (Monico) of Fayetteville, GA; two granddaughters, Ariyell Shaineek and Ariyon Shainee, both of Fayetteville, GA, his sister, Cassandra Ivy Vaughn (Fernanda) of Oxford, MS, and a host of nieces, cousins, nephews and friends.
Ulysses now rests with his father Ulysses Sr., mother Ruthie, and nephew Viente’.
